Coffee is the star of my day, everyday. It's what I wake up for (it's the only reason I know what 6:30am looks like); it's what gets me through the countless to-die-from meetings and lectures that comprise at least 95% of my adult existence; and it's absolutely necessary, I'm convinced, to enjoy dessert properly.
Coffee black, white cream and sugar coffee, coffee with honey and brown cinnamon specks - in any color, shape, or form, coffee makes people seem friendlier, ideas flow faster, and life more blindingly exciting.
I am coffee culture: the important corporate nobodies at Starbucks attacking laptops; the bigtime wannabes writing "something deep" at local coffee shops; the smug yet despairingly empty yuppies sipping overpriced mochas at cafes - I've been there and been them all.
But no more. I'm off the coffee, off the caffeine. As much as I love you, you wide-eyed, sleep-deprived icon of maniacs, I'm breaking away from you for a life a little more tired, a little more boring but possibly (hopefully) more sane.
Wish me luck.

I had coffee this morning, so yeah...that resolution did not last long.
Please teach me the pour over method! Can you show me when you're in town?
