1) Fusilli pasta (aka corkscrew shaped pasta): springy and spring-like; dense, delicious pasta that holds, I mean really holds, whatever you put on it. This is a pasta with tenacity and an attitude: it refuses to be slurped, only chewed and pondered and chewed some more. Buttered and Parmesan-ed, fusilli reminds me of the good things in life. (Acknowledgement: Frank Bruni brought me to this opinion).
2) Jazz: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Ella Fitzgerald Jazz. I am no connoisseur of Jazz music but I like the feel of its sound: spontaneous-yet-relaxed, controlled impulsiveness - pianos, trumpets, and drums tap dancing to one another. Jazz never gets dull because it rarely repeats, and I think its liberating to be unrestrained by refrain. Lol, that rhymed.
3) Light: Sunlight, candlelight, even fluorescent kitchen lights, I love it all. I like the idea of being green, but admit that I go home and turn on every light in the house. Maybe I have poor night vision? I like the weird shadows light makes. I like the way it warms and livens everything it touches. Nothing can be hopeless when there is light.

Neutral about Fusilli?
